Service Engineer / Mechanic - Colne Depot

Hours: Full-Time
Location: Colne, Lancashire

Job Description

Gibsons Garden Machinery Ltd, a leading supplier to the Groundscare industry across the North of England, are now looking at recruiting a Mechanic / Service Engineer as part of their growing team to be based in Colne, Lancashire.

There is an opportunity for an experienced mechanic / service engineer to work as part of a specialist team working on various types of professional Groundscare machinery both in the depot and on site across the North West. Due to the nature of the work the successful applicant must be a team player and have excellent mechanical skills.

The successful applicant will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them with maximum reliability and functionality.

As a Groundscare Mechanic / Engineer your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Field & workshop based travelling across Lancashire, Yorkshire & Manchester
  • Deliver excellent customer service & communication
  • Open to work flexible hours at times when required
  • To carry out ‘other’ varied activities as they arise

An ideal Mechanic / Service Engineer will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Previous experience within the Groundscare / Plant / Agricultural industry is preferred (diagnostics / servicing)
  • Experience using computer diagnostic software
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems including hydrostatic drive systems
  • Knowledge of petrol and diesel engines
  • Knowledge of 12v electrical systems
  • Ability to work to demanding deadlines
  • Ability to work on both own initiative and as part of a team
  • Willingness to observe all safety precautions

Additional skills

  • Clean driving license
  • Trailer license
  • Interpersonal skills – cheerful with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Flexible to changes in working hours and travel when required
  • Ambitious, keen, willing to learn

Applicants must hold a valid full UK driving license, Cat BE an advantage and be willing to travel in company vehicle across area as required.

Apprentice Service Engineer

Hours: Full-Time
Location: Haydock, Merseyside

Job Description

GGM Groundscare is a leading garden and grounds maintenance machinery dealership supplying high-quality professional machinery and after-sales support across the North West and Yorkshire. Our employees are as passionate as we are about providing excellent service and we’re now looking to add to our amazing team.

We need an Apprentice to join our Engineering department in Haydock. You’ll assist our Service Eengineer Team, learning a wide range of skills and processes, including how to use and maintain our workshop equipment, whilst working towards an NVQ Level 2 in Maintenance & Operations Engineering.

You’ll need to demonstrate good problem-solving skills, a keen interest in machinery and an aptitude for learning. You’ll work Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm (with an early finish on Friday). In return, we offer a good rate of pay, excellent training opportunities and a future career.

As an Apprentice Service Engineer your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • To observe, learn and understand a wide range of skills and processes while under the instruction of skilled service engineers.
  • To be able to demonstrate these skills and processes as the training progresses by working independently or with a team, to undertake tasks as instructed.
  • Learn how to use and maintain workshop equipment
  • To maintain and ensure good general housekeeping of the workshop
  • To be responsible for their own health and safety. Learning and understanding the importance of Health & Safety within the workplace.
